When I was a freshman in high school I was tiny. I remember that dreadful day in 9th. grade when I passed the 100 lb. mark. As I continued through high school and then college I struggled with my weight and self-image. Although I am already 25 lbs. lighter than when I was a college freshman I am still working on trying to be healthier. I am hoping that weight watchers will help teach Torey and I alot about nutrition, and gain an awareness about food & health. For instance my biggest shocker was my all time favorite General Tseo's chicken is 14 points! I only get 22 points!!! What an eye opener.
I am doing this to try and be healthier and hopefully I can lose a few pounds while I am at it. This got me thinking about God's plan for us, and our health. I know some people struggle with medical problems that effect their metabolism and weight, such as thyroid disorders, but I also see a lot of excess in our country and culture. I wonder what that little girl digging through the trash in the dump in Nicaragua would think if she saw our frequent trips to the all you can eat buffett, the burgers that are always getting bigger, and all the food we waste because we just don't like it. These things are so normal here that alot of times I forget, and I am very guilty of food waisting. So here's the food for thought. Notice glutton is thrown right in there with the drunkard! Hopefully remember that little girl in the dump, and these verses, I can change my perspcetives on food to a more Godly one, and less of a worldly one.
Proverbs 23:21 NKJV
For the drunkard and the glutton will come to poverty, And drowsiness will clothe a man with rags.
1 Corinthians 10:31 KJV
Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.
